Where are you based?
I am currently based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. However, due my previously nomadic lifestyle, I have in recent years called places like the Maryland, Italy, Sheffield, London, Manchester and, ahem, Macclesfield, home. I am always up for new adventures and more than happy to travel for specific assignments or projects.
Do you have a set fee?
Not at all. My fee varies on things like topic, time-frame and whether or not I can work from home or if other costs, like transport, will be involved. If you are looking for a freelancer for either a one-off project or an on-going commitment, get in touch here and we can discuss the details.
What did your job as Editor of Tomorrow's Flooring involve?
I previously worked as the Editor of the UK’s leading digital publication for the flooring industry, Tomorrow's Flooring, within the Opus Business Media group. As the Editor, I was responsible for researching, commissioning, writing and sub-editing all submissions and contributions to the magazine. Within this role I also attended several trade shows, including The Flooring Show in Harrogate, The Ideal Home Show and Ecobuild in London and Domotex in Hannover. During my time at the company, I was also sub-editor for sister publications Tomorrow's Cleaning, Tomorrow's FM and Tomorrow's Health & Safety, and I was also responsible for launching and editing a new publication, Tomorrow’s Retail Floors.
What happened to the Dualshow website?
Dualshow was a New-York based publication, live during 2011 and 2012. For sixth months I worked as a UK-based Lifestyle Writer, producing five ever-green and five news articles each week. Due to financial reasons, the website and publication has since ceased trading. Unfortunately this means that the work that I and the rest of the team produced is no longer available to view online. Copies of every article I produced are still available as online PDF's, which you will find throughout my portfolio. A recommendation from my Editor at Dualshow can be read here:
I'm struggling to view some of your articles from Dualshow?
This may be because you are viewing the website on Safari. Try using Google Chrome; this usually works fine for me.
Where do you work?
Wherever I fancy! I mostly work from home, but do occasionally set up shop in the various coffee shops of Leeds and try to strike up friendships with the staff in hopes of free tea re-fils and cake display left-overs. (N.B. the latter has yet to happen, but I live in hope...)
